A place which had built with an advanced civilization and the reason behind its construction is not yet surely known is acropolis of Athens. Every traveler who visits Athens cannot miss this place as it is one of the best archeological sites that had ever built. Visit to this place can be luxurious as giant pedestrian streets, cafes, restaurants etc greets us while the journey and the walk are made quite pleasant.

Acropolis is popularly called as a “sacred rock” which resembles the culture and education of the Greek civilization. This historical monument took nine years for its construction and served as temple first, later as a church and again it turned in to a mosque at some times in the past. Finally it has been used as storage facility for the Turkish gun powder. Even though there are many other fabulous and extraordinary tourist spots around the world, the Parthenon of Greece is treated as a fascinating one as it is constructed with interchangeable pieces. It means, if we consider the columns at the entrance, any column can be interchanged with other similar column and this the reason why it is considered as the world’s biggest and heaviest jigsaw puzzle.

It has a broken construction as it was the result of bombardment made on it in 1687 by the venetians. Even though it is damaged it has a great respect as one of the fabulous historical monument of the ancient times.
